Organic Produce & The Clean 15

organic produce buying guide clean 15

Anyone else find the whole "organic produce" concept confusing? When I saw a nutritionist, she told me that in her professional opinion, the #1 thing anyone can do to ward off cancer {in the realm of nutrition} is to buy organic. Dairy - easy. Produce - not so much if you are armed with a long, specific list of items you need for a variety recipes. So sometimes we have to choose our battles.  And that is where this incredibly useful tool - EWG's "Clean 15" list - comes into play. This is a companion list to EWG's "Dirty Dozen" list. The former list {shown below} showcases the foods that have the lowest levels of pesticides. The latter list {posted just prior to this post} showcases the foods that have the highest levels of pesticides.  An important note: EWG tests peeled produce.
